Eleven Arrows to play Kaizer Chiefs
Tuesday, 20 July 2010

South African football giants Kaizer Chiefs will play a friendly match against coastal-based Namibia Premier League (NPL) team Eleven Arrows on July 31 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

The Marketing Director of Kaizer Chiefs, Jessica Motaung said the match was important in bringing the brand to the rest of Africa.
“It is important for us to bring the brand to the rest of Africa and grow the brand in Namibia. We are also looking to build a support base and increase access to the Kaizer Chiefs brand so that people feel a tangible impact,” Motaung said.

“It will also be an opportunity for the team to play competitively during their pre-season camp and for the coach to test the team and possibly showcase some new talent,” she added.

The owner of Eleven Arrows Football Club, Johnny Doeseb said his team was ready to face Chiefs.

“The boys have been in camp since the 5th of July, and Eleven Arrows will be there to compete and not just participate. We are ready to give Chiefs' players a run for their money when they come to Namibia,” Doeseb said.

“All roads in Windhoek will be painted maroon and gold in support of Eleven Arrows,” Doeseb added.

“Everything has being taken care of from an organisational point of view, and on the day people should just come and enjoy an afternoon full of football entertainment,” Doeseb added.

The Kaizer Chiefs team will arrive in Namibia on July 29 and will have an open training session at the Sam Nujoma Stadium after which they will have an autograph signing session for the local fans.

Mpumzi Pupuma, the Managing Director of Standard Bank Namibia, which is co-sponsoring the event with Hollard Insurance Namibia saw this as an opportunity for both teams to showcase their talent in front of the Namibian people.

“This is also an opportunity for Eleven Arrows to demonstrate the level of their skills and grant them exposure at a continental level,” Pupuma said.

“The timing of the game is excellent and could not have come at a better time, as the World Cup just ended and soccer fever is still among us,” Pupuma continued.

Rundu Chiefs and Zambezi United will play a curtain raiser match at 12h00, and the main match is due to start at 15h30. Gates will open at 10h00.

Open stand tickets will cost N$40 while VIP tickets will cost N$400. The tickets will be on sale from the following outlets: Soccer House, NPL House, Eleven Arrows offices, Universal Sounds, JJD Information Centre, all Streethouse branches and OTB Sports shops in Windhoek and Swakopmund.
