Stars Tops as league break for NFA Cup
Monday, 01 March 2010
MTC Premiership defending champions African Stars are sitting top of the table after week-18 of action with league football set to break this week as the NFA Cup last 32 takes centre-stage.

Afrcian Stars played to a one-all draw at Blue Waters on Saturday to draw level on points (36) with second Placed Orlando Pirates who beat Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) one-nil.

A brace by Jerome Louis and another goal by Marco Van Wyk ensured three points for Black Africa in their postponed encounter against Oshakati City on Sunday morning at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

The match was postponed from Saturday due to bad-light and the result sees BA moves back in to third place, equal on points with Tigers who drew goalless against the visiting Eleven Arrows.

Ramblers rubbed salt into the wounds of United Stars with an empathic  3-1 victory at Tsumeb to move them six points off the relation zone, with United joining Hotspurs at the basement of the table as they sit on 13 and 12 points in 11 and 12th places respectively.

Arrows are on 26 points in fifth place one point ahead of Waters with SKW, despite losing 3-0 to Civics, in seventh place with 25 points, followed by Civics with 24.

This weekend the league programme takes a seat back as the Leo NFA cup competition reaches its second round that calls for the participation of the Premiership clubs.

The Leo NFA Cup matches will be played from Friday and Saturday at the SKW Stadium in Windhoek, The Khuisebmund Stadium in Walvis Bay and the Mokati Stadium in Otjiwarongo.
