Pirates held, Five Clashes Ahead
Thursday, 04 February 2010

Orlando Pirates failed to put more pressure on African Stars at the top of the MTC Premiership summit after playing to a one-all draw against Ramblers on Wednesday night.

The Buccaneers came into the week-15 encounter knowing that a win will put them equal on points with the defending champions African Stars but Ramblers, under the tutelage of Ali Akan this year had other ideas on the night at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

Rammies took the lead in the second half through Junior Gebhardt before Sem Iipinge equalised for Dawid Snewe’s men in black. Pirates are now two points behind Stars who plays on Saturday at Eleven Arrows with Ramblers in eighth place on 15 points.

Friday  night will be Black Africa host Hotspurs at the Sam Nujoma Stadium at 20h00. The Lively Lions, BA under Ricardo Mannetti have been somewhat underperforming but a clash against the bottom of the table side Spurs might just be what the doctor ordered.

BA are third on the table with 24 points and for Spurs, after convincingly  beating fourth placed Blue Waters 3-1 last week, they now have eight points from 14 matches.

African Stars, top on 31 points, will take on Eleven Arrows away at the Kuisebmund Stadium In Walvis Bay as former Stars playmaker  Arrows coach Congo Hindjou attempts to keep his good start at Arrows going. Kick off is at 16h00. Arrows are now ninth on the table with 13 points.

At the SKW Park at 16h00, Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) will host Blue Waters with a great chance of catching up with the top three as they currently occupy position sixth with 21 points.

At Embandu in the north, Oshakati City will take Civics in another tantalising encounter at 16h00 with the vital three points at stake. Woody Jacobs’ Civics lost at Arrows last week and this time around they have to win on the road at City to increase their points to 18.

City last weekend played to a goalless draw at Pirates in the Capital and are currently firm favourites for relegation as they occupy the second relegation spot, 11th with 10 points, but a win will give them a lifeline and another day to fight for.

Match-day 15 will conclude at 19h00 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium as Tigers entertains the Rundu boys, United Stars who last week held BA to a two-all draw in the capital and Tigers lost 2-0 at Stars.
