Ninja Karongee and Ronald Ketjijere scored against Tigers to consolidate African Stars MTC Premiership position one status.
The Samba Boys, who on match-day unveiled a Bi-monthly “Yo Stalile” magazine, again pulls thousands of people to the epic clash against Tigers. After a fairly pedestrian first half, the two sides came out in the second half giving their all but it was the reigning league champions Stars who broke the deadlock with Jasmin Ninja Karongee lashing onto a loose ball on the edge of the 18-mtre box, unleashing a thunderous shot into far top corner, leaving Tigers keeper Fox Namundunga catching flies. Tangeni Shipahu came close for Tigers on more than one occasion but his isolation upfront meant he has to be herculean to overpower the impressive Stars backline. Later in the half, Ronald Stiga Ketjiere waited patiently for the cleared ball from a corner-kick outside the box, and confidently volley it downward into the corner to make it 2-0 to the Samba Boys. Stars have now cemented their place at the top of the Premiership to 31 points with Pirates in second place on 27 points who plays City on Saturday. Tigers remain fourth on 24 points. |
